At the northern terminus of the Zion Canyon Scenic Road is Riverside Walk trail which dead ends at the Virgin River in a half mile or so. From here hikers (days trippers or those who embark on longer camping expeditions) can walk north for several miles along the river which narrows to just a feet in width in places (not a good place to be in a flash flood situation).
One gets wet on this hike since in many places there's no walking trail, only the river. Here a steady stream of hikers reappear in the late afternoon. Some are day hikers like the couple on the right and others, with large backpacks, have been camping in the many remote areas of the park. Panasonic FZ-50 point and shoot camera at 68mm.
