The Burr Trail is a scenic, meandering side road that starts at Boulder off Route 12 and is about 40 miles long, eventually entering the southern end of Capital Reef National Park where the paved road becomes gravel and descends steeply via a series of sharp switchbacks into Muley Twist Canyon and the Waterpocket Fold of Capital Reef NP. It can be a easily negotiated in dry conditions with a conventional passenger car.
In this scene, looking northeast, one descends switchbacks and starts a 10-mile journey through scenic Long Canyon along a dry creek bed bordered by canyon walls. Nikon D700 and Nikkor 24-70 f/2.8 lens at 70mm FX. September 28, 2012.
