Wildlife abounds in Costa Rica. This small collection of images begins with an endorsement of the knowledgeable, English-speaking guides who will shepherd you through nature preserves and help you find what you want to see when you visit Costa Rica. They really know their craft. Frankly, we would have never been able to find or learn about the myriad creatures that inhabit this wonderful country without a guide.
Our guide for a September 27, 2007 day-long visit to Carara National Park and other nearby places was Jorge. Witty, sharp-eyed, pleasant with a great sense of humor, he was a terrific asset in finding wildlife. Jorge seen here is equipped with high powered telescopes and pocket reference books. Late in the day he managed to find the elusive Scarlet Macaws (pictures follow this image). September 25, 2007. Nikon D200 + Nikkor 17-55 f/2.8 DX
